CARRABASSETT VALLEY, ME — A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Connecticut woman.
Austin Doucette of Carrabassett Valley was arrested Monday evening and charged with the murder of Makayla Rose Desantis, 23, of Colchester, Connecticut.
The Franklin County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday reporting the shooting.
First responders transported Desantis to MaineHealth Franklin Hospital in Farmington.
She was later transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she died from her injuries.
Investigators determined that Desantis sustained her injuries at a residence on Left Bank in Carrabassett Valley.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation with assistance from the Carrabassett Valley Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
