LYNDONVILLE, VT — A man wanted on a parole violation was arrested March 10 after fleeing from police officers who attempted to stop his vehicle.
Ricky Thompson, 47, of Lyndon, was spotted by Officer Gerrish at 1:26 p.m. at the intersection of Middle Street and Church Street.
Officers Gerrish and Renaudette attempted to stop the vehicle, which initially stopped before rapidly accelerating away as the officers approached.
The vehicle turned onto Depot Street, Elm Street and Center Street before eluding police.
The vehicle was located in the driveway of 75 Runners Road, where Thompson attempted to flee on foot.
Officer Gerrish arrested Thompson near a barn.
A search revealed Thompson was in possession of a white powdery substance that field tested presumptively positive for cocaine.
Thompson was lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Facility on the Vermont Parole Board violation warrant.
He was cited into Caledonia Superior Court on charges of eluding a police officer with negligent operation and possession of cocaine.
His arraignment is scheduled for April 27 at 8:30 a.m.
The vehicle was towed by TBC Towing & Rentals.
The parole warrant stemmed from original convictions of aiding in the commission of assault and robbery with a deadly weapon, aiding commission of a felony, and transportation of alcohol and drugs into a detention center.
His maximum expiration date is August 9, 2045.
