MONTGOMERY, NY — A 63-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital after being ejected from his vehicle in a crash on State Route 211.
The Town of Montgomery Police Department responded to the area of 655 State Route 211 at approximately 9:44 p.m. March 9, 2026, for a reported motor vehicle accident with wires down and a vehicle on fire.
First arriving officers located a vehicle that had crashed through a telephone pole and an unconscious male on the ground.
Officers rendered aid to the man and confirmed that he was the driver of the crashed vehicle and had been thrown from the vehicle during the crash.
The man was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.
A second vehicle sustained significant damage from the downed wires.
The driver of that vehicle refused medical attention.
An investigation is ongoing by the Town of Montgomery Police Department.
Town police were assisted by Montgomery EMS, Montgomery Fire Department, the Village of Montgomery Police Department and the Town of Wallkill Police Department.
