STANDISH, ME — A 26-year-old man was injured after his vehicle struck a telephone pole and rolled onto its side March 8.

Anthony Black, of Standish, was traveling northbound on Bonny Eagle Road around 11:45 a.m. when his vehicle went off the road to the right and crashed into a telephone pole, snapping it in half, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle then went across the road and ended up on its passenger side.

Black was trapped in the vehicle for a short time until bystanders assisted him out.

The crash caused significant damage to Black’s vehicle and property damage at the scene.

Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
