Man arrested on DUI charge in Royalton

ROYALTON, VT — A Royalton man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle struck a tree on Dairy Hill Road on March 7, 2026.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Royalton Barracks responded to the crash at approximately 4:55 p.m.

The operator was identified as Jacob B. Jennings, 41, of Royalton.

Investigation determined Jennings had operated a vehicle in a negligent manner and had operated a motor vehicle without an interlock device.

Troopers observed indicators of impairment while interacting with Jennings and subsequently placed him under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

Jennings was charged with DUI fourth offense or subsequent, negligent operation and interlock violation.

He was processed at the Royalton Barracks and Woodstock Police Department.

Jennings was released with a citation to appear in court.

Road conditions were wet with ice and weather was cloudy with rain at the time of the incident.
