NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Troopers arrested a Providence woman on multiple fraud charges at 6:30 p.m.
Gbessay Madave, 43, of Providence, was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $10,000, fraudulently obtaining public assistance over $500, and giving false document to agent, employee, or public official.
The arrest was the result of a barracks investigation by troopers and Providence Police subsequently locating the subject.
Madave was transported to the Wickford Barracks where she was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a future 3rd Division District Court date.
In a separate incident at 10:34 p.m., troopers arrested Augustus Degregory, 64, of Warwick, for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs – BAC unknown – first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 138 in the town of Jamestown.
Degregory was transported to the Wickford Barracks where he was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released into the custody of a responsible adult with a future 2nd Division District Court date.
