NEW HAVEN, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Route 7 and Vermont Route 17.
Troopers from the New Haven Barracks were notified of the crash at approximately 2:33 p.m.
Scott Hirschberg, 48, of Cornwall, told police he was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 7 when a vehicle in front of him suddenly slowed.
Hirschberg said he lost control of his vehicle and exited the roadway to the left.
The 2022 Dodge RAM 1500 went over a snowbank and onto train tracks before coming to an uncontrolled rest on the tracks.
The vehicle sustained major front-end damage and was totaled.
Hirschberg was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Middstate Towing.
Road conditions were dry and weather was clear at the time of the crash.
