WYOMISSING, PA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at the entrance to Berkshire Square Shopping Center on Friday.
Wyomissing police were dispatched to State Hill Road at approximately 1:15 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Officers found Eugenia Polonski, 71, of Reading, had been struck by a 2015 Lexus SUV driven by Margo Lemke of Molina, Illinois.
Polonski was transported to Reading Hospital where she died from her injuries.
The Pennsylvania State Police Accident Reconstruction Team assisted in the crash investigation.
State Hill Road between Berkshire Boulevard and Colony Drive was closed during the investigation and reopened at approximately 4:00 p.m.
After consultation with the Berks County District Attorney’s office, Lemke was cited for duties at stop signs under section 3323 b of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code.
Lemke was taken before Magisterial District Justice David Yoch where she pleaded guilty to the offense.
The Wyomissing Police Department was assisted by the West Reading and Spring Township police departments, the Wyomissing Fire Department, Western Berks EMS and fire police from multiple jurisdictions.
