LYNDONVILLE, VT — A man has been cited for leaving the scene of an accident after a crash on Broad Street on March 6.
Chief Harris responded to the scene for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injury.
The offending vehicle, described as a Jeep Grand Cherokee, had fled the scene following the crash.
During the investigation, police identified the vehicle’s original owner and learned it had been sold to Rusty Perry, 37, of Lyndon.
Contact was made with Perry, who told police his girlfriend, Alexa Peer, 31, of Lyndon, was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident.
In an interview, Peer told police she was driving and dropped a phone, which distracted her.
Further evidence and witnesses identified the operator as Perry, who confirmed he was operating the vehicle and Peer was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Perry was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.
Peer was cited with false information to police.
Both have a court date of March 30.
