Man arrested on DUI charge in Jericho

JERICHO, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a man on drug-related charges after responding to a report of three people passed out in a vehicle on March 2.

Troopers were called to Brookside Drive near Raceway Road at 12:41 p.m. for a suspicious call involving three individuals unconscious in a vehicle.

Upon arrival, troopers made contact with the individuals and had them evaluated by emergency medical services.

After being checked by EMS personnel, the operator, Jason Choiniere, 30, of Swanton, showed signs of impairment while speaking with troopers.

During the conversation, troopers determined Choiniere had a criminally suspended license and was in possession of a controlled substance.

Troopers conducted field sobriety exercises on Choiniere, and at the conclusion of the testing, he was placed under arrest.

Choiniere was transported to the Vermont State Police barracks in Williston for processing.

He was cited for DUI drugs, possession of a controlled substance and driving with a criminally suspended license.

Choiniere is scheduled to appear in court on March 19 at 8:30 a.m.

He was released to a sober adult.
