Structure fire extinguished in Rhinebeck

RHINEBECK, NY — Firefighters brought a house fire under control with no reported injuries Tuesday night in the Village of Rhinebeck.

The Rhinebeck Fire Department was dispatched at 7:56 p.m. to a report of a room on fire at a residence in the village.

The first unit arrived on scene within two minutes and encountered heavy fire showing from one side of the structure.

A second alarm was transmitted to summon additional personnel and equipment to the scene.

Firefighters stretched handlines and initiated an interior attack, resulting in a rapid knockdown of the fire.

Crews remained on scene for several hours conducting overhaul operations to ensure all hidden fire was extinguished.

Fire department units and fire investigators cleared the scene at approximately midnight.

No injuries were reported to occupants or responders.

Rhinebeck EMS personnel provided on-scene firefighter rehabilitation during operations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response Fire Investigation Division.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Hillside, Red Hook, Tivoli and Milan fire departments, Empress EMS, Rhinebeck Police Department, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response and Central Hudson.

The Roosevelt and Rhinecliff fire departments provided standby coverage.
