BROWNFIELD, ME — A 32-year-old Brownfield man was arrested early Wednesday after a standoff involving firearms at a residence on Wakefield Road, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies, Maine State Police, and Fryeburg Rescue responded to the residence at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in response to a reported domestic violence incident involving firearms.
Investigators said Dakota Clifford allegedly fired multiple rounds both inside and outside the residence and at an adult female victim.
The victim was able to escape uninjured.
Law enforcement officials established a perimeter and obtained both a search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for Clifford.
Additional resources, including the Maine State Police Tactical Team, responded to the scene.
At about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, authorities arrested Clifford without incident.
He was charged with aggravated reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence terrorizing.
Deputies said they recovered multiple firearms and other evidence from the scene.
Clifford was booked at the Oxford County Jail, where he remains incarcerated pending further court proceedings.
No injuries were reported to either Clifford or the victim.
