TOWN OF WALLKILL, NY — Two men have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a burning building on Ridgewood Avenue.
Town of Wallkill police officers responded to a report of a fire at 161 Ridgewood Avenue at approximately 1:08 a.m. on Feb. 25.
Upon arrival, officers observed two males fleeing the burning premises.
Detective Andre Frontis conducted an investigation that led to the arrests of two men, both charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Joseph Rhein, 33, of Town of Wallkill, was arrested on March 1.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail with $3,000 cash bail, $6,000 bond, or $12,000 partially secured bond.
Joseph Calderon, 47, of Middletown, was arrested on Feb. 25.
He was arraigned and remanded to Orange County Jail without bail.
Both defendants are scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. on March 4 before Judge Peter Green in the Town of Wallkill Court.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Hudson Valley Arson and Explosives Task Force assisted in the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
