AUBURN, NY — Police have determined that a reported threat against Cayuga Community College’s Auburn campus was unfounded.
The Auburn Police Department’s Detective Bureau investigated the possible threat on March 4, 2026.
Detectives traveled to Rochester to speak with allegedly involved parties during the investigation.
Police determined that an Auburn resident was communicating by phone with a friend from Rochester.
The Auburn resident, who was in personal crisis at the time of the conversation, perceived that a third party mentioned in the conversation posed a possible threat to the campus.
Police determined the perceived threat was unfounded and that the alleged third party suspect did not exist.
Authorities said there is no credible threat to the college or any school in Auburn.
