HAVERHILL, MA — Police are warning residents about a new scam involving fake food delivery text messages.
An officer received a text message claiming to be from a restaurant in Dubai offering food delivery.
The message contained a “check” number that could be clicked on.
Police said the scam had a flaw because the restaurant location mentioned in the message is not currently open.
Authorities are reminding residents to never click on links or numbers in messages from unknown senders.
Police advise anyone who receives unsolicited food delivery messages to delete them immediately.
Residents who want to order food should contact restaurants directly through verified channels.
