ULYSSES, NY — A 9-year-old girl reported missing early Thursday morning has been found safe.
Joanne Washburn was located off Rabbit Run Road in the Town of Ulysses, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the 5000 block of Cold Springs Road at approximately 6:34 a.m. Thursday for a report of a missing child.
Joanne’s parents reported finding her not in the home at approximately 6 a.m., after last seeing her at around 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
She was believed to be wearing a blue jacket, gray and blue boots, and may have been carrying a purple backpack with yellow strings.
Joanne did not arrive at school in Trumansburg Thursday morning.
A witness reported possibly seeing a child matching Joanne’s description walking along Trumansburg Road at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday.
Multiple law enforcement units searched the area before locating her.
