Man charged with DWI with children in vehicle in East Fishkill

EAST FISHKILL, NY — A trooper assigned to the New York State Police Wappinger barracks conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on State Route 376 in the Town of East Fishkill on March 1, 2026, at approximately 4:38 p.m. for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

During the stop, the operator, identified as William M. Leblanc, 41, of East Fishkill, displayed signs of intoxication.

Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which Leblanc subsequently failed.

Further investigation revealed that two children, ages 9 and 11, were in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Leblanc was taken into custody and transported to SP Wappinger for processing, where he submitted a chemical breath test that yielded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10%.

The children were safely released to a sober third party.

Leblanc was charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger, a class E felony, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or Higher, an unclassified misdemeanor, Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Leblanc was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of East Fishkill Court on March 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
