Man arrested on endangerment charge in Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, NY — A man has been arrested on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person following a death investigation that began in April 2024.

Randy A. Gordineer was arrested on Feb. 9 and charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the first degree, a class E felony.

Officers from the Peekskill Police Department responded to a residence on Crompond Road at approximately 4:17 p.m. on April 14, 2024, for a report of a medical emergency.

Upon arrival, officers were notified by Peekskill EMS that the individual requiring assistance was deceased.

EMS advised officers that Gordineer, the deceased’s husband, had reported the medical emergency and was present at the location.

Officers observed circumstances surrounding the death that appeared suspicious during the initial response.

The Peekskill Police Department Detective Division conducted an investigation in collaboration with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the Westchester County Police Forensic Investigation Unit and the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the deceased was a physically disabled person who was incapable of adequately caring for herself.

Gordineer was held pending arraignment in Peekskill City Court.
