CHELSEA, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Vermont Route 110 near Moxley Road at approximately 5:35 p.m. March 4.
Troopers located one vehicle at the scene, operated by Peter Clark, 70, of Chelsea.
The other vehicle was located further south on Vermont Route 110 where the vehicle became disabled in the roadway due to damage from the crash.
The operator was identified as Everett Jones Jr., 81, of Corinth.
The investigation determined Jones was traveling south on Vermont Route 110 when he crossed the centerline and struck Clark.
Jones continued to drive until his vehicle became disabled.
The investigation also determined Jones was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Clark sustained minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
Jones was driving a 2021 Ford F-150, which sustained damage to the driver’s side and was totaled.
Clark was driving a 2014 Honda Accord, which sustained damage to the driver’s side and was totaled.
Jones was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to the Royalton barracks for processing where he was released on a citation to appear in Orange County Criminal Court on March 25 at 8:30 a.m.
He was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
