AUBURN, ME — The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the death of a man found outside his tent on Washington Street North on Tuesday.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta confirmed Wednesday the deceased has been identified as Jaime Jimino, 47, of Portland, who had recently been an unhoused individual in the Auburn area.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner will continue to investigate to determine the cause and manner of Jimino’s death.
Final results are expected to take several weeks.
At this time, no foul play is suspected.
Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office, along with Auburn Police detectives, remained on scene for several hours Tuesday evening processing and examining the area.
Authorities have confirmed that a small fire occurred in and around Jimino’s tent.
The investigation remains active.
