AUBURN, NY — Police are investigating a possible threat at Cayuga County Community College’s Auburn campus.
The Auburn Police Department was notified of the threat during the early morning hours on March 4.
Police contacted the college at 197 Franklin St. after beginning their investigation.
The Auburn Enlarged Central School District was also notified due to the proximity of Auburn Junior High School to the campus.
Police said the threat was directed at the community college campus and not the school district.
The decision to close the schools was left to both educational facilities, according to Police Chief Matthew Androsko.
Police are checking the validity of the threat.
Rumors that an individual has been seen near or around the campus are not true, police said.
