BRUTUS, NY — A 39-year-old woman faces drug charges following a single-vehicle crash last month.
Maggie J. Campbell, of Brutus, was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree on Feb. 27 at 1:35 p.m., according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Oakland Road and Day Road on Feb. 10 at approximately 2:09 p.m.
Campbell was operating a vehicle southeast on Oakland Road when she went off the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to the sheriff’s office.
Campbell was uninjured, but the vehicle sustained major damage and needed to be towed from the scene.
During an inventory of the vehicle being towed, a substance in a plastic sandwich bag was located.
A test of the unknown substance showed positive for cocaine.
Campbell was also found to be in possession of another substance that was tested and later shown to be methamphetamine.
Campbell was processed and released on appearance tickets.
