BIG FLATS, NY — The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of defrauding an elderly victim.
On Nov. 28 at approximately 3:07 p.m., the suspect allegedly assisted in defrauding the victim by falsely identifying himself as a representative of Geek Squad/Best Buy.
The suspect met with the victim in the parking lot of McDonald’s, located at 3327 Chambers Road, where the victim provided a large sum of cash in exchange for computer repair services.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the incident and is attempting to identify and interview the individual.
