UTICA, NY — A 20-year-old man faces assault charges after allegedly stabbing another man during a fight early Sunday morning.
Utica Police units were dispatched to the 600 block of Varick Street at 1:10 a.m. on March 1, 2026, regarding a fight.
New York State Police personnel were attempting to break up an active fight involving several parties when Utica officers arrived.
Officers assisted with dispersing the parties and investigating what had occurred.
While questioning people on scene, officers learned that a man had suffered a stab wound to the shoulder.
During one of the initial altercations, Dylan Tesak, 20, of Utica, displayed a knife and stabbed the victim, according to police.
The victim was transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Tesak was transported to the Utica Police Department and charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
