Man arrested on drug charges in Fort Fairfield

FORT FAIRFIELD, ME — A Fort Fairfield man was arrested Saturday on drug trafficking charges following a probation compliance check at his residence on Limestone Road.

Officers with the Fort Fairfield Police Department arrested Scott Larson, 53, on Feb. 28.

During the check, officers located 14.09 grams of methamphetamine, 0.79 grams of cocaine, and items commonly used to weigh and package drugs for distribution, according to Police Chief Matthew E. Cummings.

Larson was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail, where he is being held on a probation hold pending a court appearance.

This arrest marks the third time in the past 15 months that Larson has been arrested by the Fort Fairfield Police Department for drug-related offenses.

On Sept. 7, officers executed a search warrant at Larson’s Limestone Road residence and located 2.7 grams of cocaine along with items used in the trafficking of illegal narcotics.

Larson was charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

At that time, Larson was on conditions of release stemming from a Dec. 27, 2024 arrest when officers conducted a traffic stop on High Street and located 2.37 grams of cocaine in his possession.

During that incident he was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and operating after suspension and was also found to have two outstanding warrants.

On Oct. 29, Larson pleaded guilty in a joint plea for the December 2024 and September cases to unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, two counts of possession of cocaine, violation of conditions of release and operating after suspension.

He was sentenced to five years in prison with all but 90 days suspended, two years of probation and $650 in fines.

Larson served 90 days in jail before being released.

Larson has multiple prior convictions including drug possession, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, assault on law enforcement and domestic violence.

Larson remains in custody at the Aroostook County Jail pending court proceedings.
