GRANVILLE, NY — State Police arrested three men in connection with multiple burglaries and thefts in Washington County and Vermont that resulted in the recovery of 14 firearms, six vehicles, eight trailers and other stolen property.
Cody D. Tracy, 32, of Granville, was arrested Jan. 14, 2026, and charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony; third-degree burglary, a class D felony; and fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.
Earl K. Vanguilder, 31, of Salem, was arrested Jan. 15, 2026, and charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and third-degree burglary, a class D felony.
Stephen Williams, 38, was arrested Feb. 13, 2026, and charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony; third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class D felony; and fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.
The investigation began Jan. 13, 2026, at about 7:18 p.m., when troopers responded to a property in Granville for a report of multiple stolen vehicles, trailers, tools and car parts.
The investigation determined that Tracy, Vanguilder and Williams allegedly traveled to the location where they reportedly stole multiple vehicles, multiple trailers and numerous tools and car parts from an unoccupied building.
During the investigation, police discovered additional crimes.
On Dec. 24, Tracy and Vanguilder allegedly forcibly entered an unoccupied home in Hebron and reportedly stole a four-wheeler, tools, multiple firearms and other miscellaneous household items.
On Jan. 7, 2026, Williams reportedly stole a car part valued at $1,000 from a property in Granville and then allegedly sold the item to a Vermont scrap yard.
On Jan. 16, 2026, State Police located a classic car that had been reportedly stolen during a burglary that occurred in Poultney.
Williams allegedly claimed ownership of the vehicle and sold it to an unknowing victim in December.
In January 2026, Tracy allegedly traveled to a Granville farm and reportedly stole a Utility Task Vehicle from the property.
He then altered the UTV to prevent detection, causing damage.
The theft had not been reported by the property owner at the time of the discovery.
All three individuals were processed at SP Granville and transported to the Washington County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
Williams will remain in custody at the Washington County Correctional Facility as a fugitive from justice pending extradition to Vermont due to an active arrest warrant for violent felony charges.
In total during the investigation, 14 guns, two four-wheelers, six vehicles, one UTV, three snowmobiles, eight trailers and a motorcycle that had been reportedly stolen were recovered, resolving numerous investigations in Washington County and Vermont.
