NORTH TONAWANDA, NY — A 30-year-old man has been indicted on multiple weapons charges following a domestic assault investigation that began in late November.
Alexx J. Boehringer of North Tonawanda faces one count of first-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class B felony, 12 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, class C felonies, and one count of third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor.
The North Tonawanda Police Department began investigating a domestic-related assault in late November.
The victim was admitted to the hospital several days after the assault occurred.
During the investigation, police identified Boehringer as the suspect.
The victim later died at the hospital, but the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined the death was from natural causes unrelated to the assault.
Police executed a search warrant at Boehringer’s residence and recovered more than a dozen illegally possessed firearms, ammunition and magazines.
The Niagara Falls Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit assisted at the scene.
The case was presented to the Niagara County Grand Jury, which returned the indictment.
Boehringer was arraigned on Feb. 27 and remanded to the Niagara County Jail.
