WATERVILLE, NY — A Waterville man has been arrested following an investigation into false emergency reports and an assault on a deputy.
Cameron Buell, 23, of Waterville, was arrested Feb. 27 and charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, harassment in the second degree, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a patrol deputy responded to a reported larceny complaint on Stafford Avenue North in Waterville at 9:01 a.m. Feb. 23.
The deputy determined no larceny had occurred.
At approximately 11:26 a.m., Buell contacted the Oneida County 911 Center 11 additional times to report an alleged emergency and threatened physical harm to a dispatcher, according to Maciol.
A deputy and state troopers arrived on scene to confirm there had been no emergency.
While on scene, Buell threatened to shoot at officers and punched a deputy in the head before resisting arrest, according to Maciol.
Buell was taken into custody and transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment.
Upon his release Feb. 27, Buell was arrested and transported to the Waterville Field Office for processing.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by New York State Police Marcy, New York State Police Morrisville and COCVAC ambulance.
