WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA — An 18-year-old man was arrested and a loaded firearm was seized following a traffic stop early Friday.
Members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit arrested Alex Rosa at approximately 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of Main Street and Carew Street.
Detectives had been investigating Rosa for illegal possession of a firearm for several months, according to police.
On Thursday, detectives received information that Rosa was currently in possession of a firearm.
Detectives located Rosa in West Springfield and conducted a traffic stop.
A firearm was found on the passenger seat floor where Rosa had been sitting, and he was placed under arrest.
The other four occupants of the vehicle were released.
Rosa, of Springfield, is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
