QUEENSBURY, NY — Two people were arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 87.
State Police assigned to the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit arrested Sanha M. Jennings, 22, of Schenectady, and Nijee C. Rice Jones, 28, of Albany, each for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, a class B felony.
Rice Jones was also charged with a vehicle and traffic law violation.
Troopers stopped a vehicle being driven by Rice Jones on I-87 at about 4:36 p.m. Monday for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jennings.
During further investigation and with the assistance of K9 Boehm, a substance packaged in multiple small quantities that later field-tested positive for containing cocaine was located and seized from the vehicle.
Jennings and Rice Jones were arrested at the scene and transported to State Police Queensbury for processing.
They were then transported to the Warren County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, where they were arraigned.
Jennings was released on her own recognizance.
Rice Jones was remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond, or a $40,000 partially secured bond.
