WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA — The West Springfield Police Department Narcotics Unit arrested three individuals and seized more than 36 grams of methamphetamine following a weeks-long investigation into illegal drug activity.
The investigation was launched in response to numerous neighbor complaints regarding erratic behavior and suspicious activity near 21 Monastery Ave.
On Wednesday night, detectives observed Kevin Vega and Charles Sullivan leave the residence in a vehicle operated by Vega.
Officers conducted a traffic stop after determining Vega had an active warrant and a suspended license.
During the stop, officers discovered multiple baggies of suspected methamphetamine, and both Vega and Sullivan were taken into custody.
Narcotics detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for Vega’s home at 21 Monastery Ave.
Around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, members of the narcotics unit executed the search warrant in conjunction with West Springfield K9 Frank, State Police CINRET West, Hampden County District Attorney’s SAFE Unit, FBI Gang Task Force and DEA SRO.
K9 Frank located more than 36 grams of methamphetamine inside the home.
Christopher Heaton, who was present at the time, was arrested on scene.
Kevin Vega, 39, of West Springfield, was charged with drug possession Class B with intent to distribute, methamphetamine trafficking in 36 grams or more but less than 100 grams, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, warrant, number plate violation, drug possession Class B, unregistered motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle.
Charles Sullivan, 36, of Florence, was charged with drug possession Class B with intent to distribute.
Christopher Heaton, 47, of West Springfield, was charged with methamphetamine trafficking in 36 grams or more but less than 100 grams.
