DOVER, NH — Dover police are investigating after a man was found dead in the police department lobby Wednesday morning.

Andrew Larose, 37, of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, was discovered unresponsive by a police employee during the morning hours Wednesday.

Officers responded and determined Larose was deceased.

Larose had been involved in a single-vehicle crash on Locust Street at approximately 11:50 p.m. Tuesday.

He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not injured in the crash.

Because his vehicle was towed from the scene, officers provided Larose with a courtesy ride to the police department so he could arrange transportation home.

Larose was not in police custody at any point during the incident, according to Dover Police Chief David A. Terlemezian.

Detectives from the department’s Special Investigations Unit, in coordination with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, are investigating the circumstances surrounding Larose’s death.

The investigation indicates it appears likely that Larose ingested illegal narcotics in the public bathroom of the police station, leading to an accidental overdose.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
