Greyhound bus struck twice on Interstate 81 in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A Greyhound bus traveling from New York City to Syracuse was rear-ended twice on Interstate 81 north early Feb. 25, 2026.

State Police from SP Homer responded to the crash near milepost marker 46.4 at approximately 3:17 a.m.

The bus was struck first by a 2006 Toyota operated by Cheikh Mohamed Lem Abedouty, 27, of Alexandria, Virginia.

As the bus slowed following the initial collision, it was rear-ended by a 2018 Audi operated by Tyreck Lorenzo Hunte, 26, of Endicott.

Hunte did not initially stop but later reported the crash to troopers.

Abedouty was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Hunte did not report any injuries.

The bus operator, Kimberly Poole, 43, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, did not report any injuries.

None of the 43 passengers on board reported injuries.

The bus had been scheduled to stop in Binghamton before continuing to Syracuse.
