TUPPER LAKE, NY — New York State Police arrested a local man after he allegedly intentionally struck another man with a vehicle and fled the scene.
Police responded to 2 Lindsay Avenue in the village of Tupper Lake at approximately 7:50 p.m. Feb. 11, 2026, for a report of a male who had been intentionally struck by a motor vehicle.
Emergency Medical Services transported the victim, identified as Eric Sndyer, 37, of Tupper Lake, to Adirondack Medical Center.
Sndyer was later transferred to University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for further treatment, where he was treated and released.
Investigation determined the vehicle used during the incident was a 2021 Dodge pickup truck.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Matthew Patnode, 47, of Tupper Lake.
The vehicle Patnode was operating was later located abandoned in a parking lot in Tupper Lake.
Patnode was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
He was arraigned in the Town of Malone Court before the Honorable June Fisher and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
The Tupper Lake Police Department assisted the New York State Police with the investigation.
