ROCHESTER, NH — Police arrested a New Durham man in connection with two robberies at businesses on Feb. 23.

Rochester Police responded to Subway on North Main Street at approximately 6:02 p.m. for a report of an attempted robbery.

A male walked into the store with his face covered and demanded money from the clerk, according to police.

The male appeared to have something in his pocket during the incident, but left the store on foot when the clerk refused to give him money.

The male was described as wearing a blue plaid coat, black hat and white scarf covering his face.

A search of the area did not locate a suspect.

At approximately 9:21 p.m., Rochester Police responded to the Shell Gas station on Farmington Road for another robbery report.

A male walked into the store, approached the counter and demanded money from the register, police said.

The male obtained an undisclosed amount of money and left the store in the direction of Little Falls Bridge Road.

The male was described as wearing the same clothing as the suspect from the earlier Subway incident.

With assistance from New Hampshire State Police and their K-9 unit, and the Rollinsford Police Department drone, officers located the suspect fleeing the area using the old railroad bed.

A tip from a snowmobiler who reported seeing a person walking the trail behind the Ford Dealership on Farmington Road helped direct officers to the suspect’s location.

Officers found the suspect in the wood line next to the Ford Dealership wearing the same described clothing.

Jarrod Hoage, 34, of New Durham, New Hampshire, was arrested on two counts of robbery.

Hoage is scheduled for arraignment on Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at the 7th Circuit District Court in Rochester.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at (603) 330-7128.
