Dog owner arrested on multiple charges in Secaucus

SECAUCUS, NJ — A Hoboken man faces multiple charges following dog-related incidents in two Hudson County municipalities.

Robert Braxton, 42, of Hoboken, was arrested Tuesday by Secaucus and Hoboken police departments.

Braxton is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree crime, and two counts of endangering another person, third-degree crimes, related to an incident that occurred Monday, Feb. 16, in Secaucus.

He also faces charges of animal cruelty, a third-degree crime, risk of widespread injury, a fourth-degree crime, and two counts of simple assault, disorderly persons offenses, related to an incident that occurred Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Hoboken.

Three Cane Corso dogs were seized by the Secaucus Police Department after obtaining court authorization.

Braxton was arrested prior to a scheduled municipal court hearing Tuesday regarding the seizure of the dogs.

The municipal court appearance was adjourned to Tuesday, March 3.

All three dogs remain at the Secaucus Animal Shelter.

Criminal charges were filed after consultation with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Braxton was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
