LONDONDERRY, NH — A New Hampshire State Police cruiser was struck while a trooper was assisting another driver during an overnight winter storm.
At 9:02 p.m. Friday, Trooper Matthew Howe of the Troop B barracks was outside of his cruiser at the scene of a crash on Interstate 93 when the driver of another vehicle lost control and crashed into his cruiser.
It was determined that the driver, identified as Marcelo Candido de Oliveira Filho, 22, of Watertown, Massachusetts, lost control of his 2020 Volkswagen Jetta and struck Trooper Howe’s cruiser from the back.
The cruiser suffered some functional damage, and the Jetta was disabled.
No one was injured as a result of the crash.
Filho was issued a summons for reckless driving and must appear in Derry Circuit Court on Friday, April 3, 2026.
