HADLEY, NY — A Lake Luzerne man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge following a property damage crash early Saturday morning.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 1:12 a.m. on state Route 9N in the town of Hadley.
David J. Shiel, 47, of Lake Luzerne, was charged with DWI, an unclassified misdemeanor, as well as failing to use a designated lane and speed not reasonable and prudent, both infractions.
Shiel is accused of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.
He is also charged with failing to obey the directions of every sign, signal or marking pertaining to lane usage and driving his vehicle at a greater speed than was reasonable and prudent under the circumstances.
Shiel was reportedly driving north on Route 9N when he left his lane of travel and passed a Sheriff’s patrol and a New York State Department of Transportation plow truck.
He then struck trees that were blocking the roadway from a prior crash.
There were no other vehicles involved and no injuries reported.
Shiel was released on appearance tickets pending proceedings in Hadley Town Court.
