WATERBURY, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of N Main Street and Winooski Street on February 20, 2026, at 1:16 p.m.
Troopers determined that Christopher Donnelly, 39, of Northfield, was driving a 2023 Hyundai Tucson on Winooski Street approaching the intersection of N Main Street.
Alexander Lawton, 61, of Waitsfield, was traveling north on N Main Street in a 2020 Ram 1500.
Donnelly turned south onto N Main Street and entered completely into the northbound lane, colliding with the front passenger side of Lawton’s vehicle.
Both vehicles sustained totaling damage.
Neither driver was injured.
While on scene, troopers determined Donnelly committed the offenses of disorderly conduct and unlawful trespass.
Further investigation revealed Donnelly was suspected to be under the influence of intoxicants.
Donnelly was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for further processing and released with a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court on April 30, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
Donnelly is charged with operating under the influence, unlawful trespass and disorderly conduct.
Weather conditions at the time were cloudy with dry road conditions.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
