BIG FLATS, NY — A Corning Police Department recruit was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges stemming from domestic-related incidents.

Dylan J. Ellsworth was taken into custody at the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy by members of the New York State Police Troop E Violent Crime Investigation Team.

The arrest followed allegations reported by Ellsworth’s former partner involving incidents that occurred between August and December.

Corning Police Chief Kenzie M. Spaulding requested the New York State Police adopt the criminal investigation to ensure an independent review.

The Steuben County District Attorney’s Office authorized State Police to proceed with the investigation.

Ellsworth was transported to State Police Painted Post for processing.

He has been charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony, and three misdemeanors: endangering the welfare of a child, assault in the third degree and criminal obstruction of breathing.

Ellsworth will be arraigned in Steuben County CAP Court.

An Order of Protection will be requested for the victim and child.
