ARLINGTON, VT — A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after being found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle stopped in the roadway on Feb. 20.
Troopers received a report at approximately 4:49 p.m. of a stopped motor vehicle in the roadway on Ice Pond Road with an unconscious operator.
Upon arrival, the operator was identified as Eugene R. Saunders Jr., 34, of Arlington.
Saunders had been extricated from the motor vehicle and was being treated by the Arlington Fire Department and Arlington Rescue Squad.
During an on-scene investigation, troopers determined that Saunders gave multiple indicators of impairment and was subsequently placed into custody.
Saunders disclosed to troopers on scene that he had a controlled substance on his person, which was located and seized during a search incident to arrest.
Saunders was issued a criminal citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Bennington Criminal Division on April 27 at 8 a.m.
He was charged with DUI drugs and possession and control of regulated drugs.
