3 arrested on drug trafficking charges in Newcastle

NEWCASTLE, ME — Three people were arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs early Thursday morning following a traffic stop on Route One.

At about 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a pickup traveling northbound on Route One in Newcastle, acting on a tip from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

The tip stated people in the vehicle were bringing a large amount of fentanyl and cocaine to be distributed locally.

A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office K9 team arrived and the K9 “Bear” alerted on illegal substances.

A search of the vehicle and suspects seized 216 grams of fentanyl and 163 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of about $37,900.

Jessica Fratello, 46, of Union, Khyllie Weaver, 21, of Thomaston, and Divine Devonish, 27, of New York City, were all arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, Class A.

All three were taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Devonish later posted bail pending a later court date.

Weaver and Fratello are still being held pending the posting of a $400 cash bail or an appearance in court.
