WINOOSKI, VT — A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a two-vehicle crash on February 19, 2026.
Vermont State Police troopers from the Williston Barracks responded to the crash on the off-ramp of Interstate 89 Northbound at Exit 15 at approximately 6:28 p.m.
Troopers identified the operator of a 2007 Toyota Camry as Philip Hoffman, 55, of Winooski, and the operator of a 2013 Jeep Wrangler as Vanessa Mavraj, 20, of Gladstone, New Jersey.
Police determined that Hoffman had swerved and hit Mavraj’s vehicle at a red traffic light.
During the investigation, troopers observed indicators of impairment while speaking with Hoffman.
He was screened and subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI.
The Camry sustained significant front-end damage, while the Jeep had no damage.
Neither driver was injured.
Hoffman was transported to the Vermont State Police Williston Barracks for processing and released with a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court on March 12, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., to answer to the charge of DUI #2.
