5 arrested in connection with robbery series in Albany

ALBANY, NY — Five people were arrested Wednesday following a series of search warrants executed by the Albany Police Department with assistance from the ATF in connection with multiple armed robberies.

Police executed a search warrant at a residence on the 500 block of Washington Avenue near Quail Street, where a loaded 9mm handgun and an unloaded 9mm handgun were recovered.

Demarion Clark, 19, of Albany, and Jalon Ryan, 19, of Albany, were located inside the residence and taken into custody.

Clark has been charged in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred Feb. 10 on Spring Street near Quail Street, where he allegedly approached a Domino’s pizza delivery employee while armed with a handgun and forcibly stole cash and a pizza before fleeing on foot.

Ryan has been charged in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred Feb. 4 on the 300 block of Orange Street, where he allegedly followed a male victim into his residence, displayed a handgun, and forcibly stole an Apple iPad, Apple watch, cell phone and other personal property.

Ryan was also charged in connection with a robbery that occurred Nov. 6 on Spring Street.

Clark has been charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd, one count of criminal possession of an undetectable firearm and one count of robbery 1st.

Ryan has been charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd, one count of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd, one count of criminal possession of an undetectable firearm, one count of burglary 1st, one count of robbery 1st and one count of robbery 2nd.

Both were arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.

A second search warrant was executed at a residence on the 600 block of South Pearl Street near Mt Hope Drive, where a loaded .40 caliber handgun was recovered.

Jarming White, 19, of Albany, was located inside the residence and taken into custody.

White has been charged in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred Nov. 20 on the 700 block of Old South Pearl Street near South Pearl Street.

White, along with two other individuals, allegedly arranged to meet the victim to sell multiple cell phones, and while attempting to complete the purchase, one of the individuals displayed a handgun and demanded money.

White has been charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd, one count of robbery 1st and one count of robbery 2nd.

A search warrant was executed at a residence on the 100 block of South Allen Street near Cortland Street.

Daniel Covington, 20, of Albany, was located inside the residence and taken into custody.

Covington has been charged in connection with the Nov. 20 robbery on Old South Pearl Street.

Covington has been charged with one count of robbery 1st and one count of robbery 2nd.

Kiazhaire Banks, 27, of Albany, was also taken into custody at Federal Probation in connection with the Nov. 20 robbery on Old South Pearl Street.

Banks has been charged with one count of robbery 1st and one count of robbery 2nd.

White, Covington and Banks were arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
