JOHNSTON, RI — A Johnston man was arrested and charged with three felony counts of receiving stolen goods after police say three town-owned snow plows were stolen from a municipal park.
Joseph Macari, 46, of Johnston, was taken into custody on Feb. 18, 2026, following an investigation into the theft of the plows from Johnston War Memorial Park at 1583 Hartford Avenue.
A Parks and Recreation Department employee discovered the plows missing from outside the department building at approximately 9:30 a.m. and notified police.
Video surveillance showed a white Chevrolet Silverado arriving at the location at approximately 1:04 a.m., according to police.
Two males dressed in dark clothing were observed attaching one of the plows to the vehicle before leaving the area.
The same vehicle and individuals returned at approximately 1:49 a.m. and removed a second plow.
At approximately 2:42 a.m., the suspects returned a third time and removed the final plow.
During the investigation, officers received information that the suspect vehicle was located at a residence on Jasmine Lane in Johnston with a plow attached.
Officers responded at approximately 1:51 p.m. and confirmed the vehicle was parked in the driveway with one of the stolen plows affixed.
Macari, identified as the resident and registered owner of the Chevrolet Silverado, was placed under arrest.
Police executed a court-authorized search warrant at the residence and recovered the remaining two stolen plows inside the garage.
Macari was arraigned during a special arraignment at police headquarters on Feb. 18, 2026, and is scheduled to appear for a pre-arraignment conference on May 18, 2026.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Michael Andreozzi at (401) 757-3140.
