Two-vehicle crash on US Route 302 in Newbury

NEWBURY, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on US Route 302 near Leighton Hill Road on Feb. 16, 2026.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks responded to the scene at 2:28 p.m.

The operator of the first vehicle, a 16-year-old from Newbury, was driving a 1993 Ford Escort when they attempted to make a left-hand turn and pulled out in front of a second vehicle, according to police.

The 16-year-old driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Cottage Hospital for medical evaluation.

A passenger in the Ford, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for medical evaluation.

The second vehicle, a 2012 Toyota RAV4, was operated by Lynn Bushey, 62, of Concord.

Bushey, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

A passenger in Bushey’s vehicle, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.

Another passenger in the Toyota, Amy Jewer, 42, was also wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
