Man arrested on fraud charges in Scituate

SCITUATE, R.I. — A 35-year-old man was arrested on multiple fraud charges Tuesday afternoon.

Christopher Santiago, of Woonsocket, was taken into custody at 2:30 p.m. by Trooper J. Clarke.

Santiago faces charges of fraudulent checks exceeding $1,500, obtaining property by false pretenses greater than $5,000 and less than $10,000, and passing of counterfeit certificates, bills or notes.

The arrest resulted from a barracks investigation conducted by Trooper Clarke and the suspect being located by the Woonsocket Police Department.

Santiago was transported to State Police Headquarters where he was processed and arraigned by a Justice of the Peace.

He was released with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court.
