AUBURN, NY — City officials are warning residents about a scam targeting people who have applied to the Planning Board or Zoning Board of Appeals.

The City of Auburn said applicants are receiving fraudulent invoices requesting payments be made via wire transfer.

City officials said the city does not request payments for application reviews through wire transfers.

Residents who receive suspicious invoices are asked to call 315-255-4118 for the Office of Planning or 315-255-4111 for the Office of Code Enforcement.

Residents can also visit Memorial City Hall at 24 South St. to verify the legitimacy of any invoice.
