MACEDON, NY — A Rochester man has been arrested following an investigation into a larceny at Walmart that occurred nearly three years ago.
Anthony D. Capers, 32, of Rochester, was taken into custody Feb. 14, 2026, after Elmira Police Department conducted a traffic stop where he was confirmed to be a passenger.
Police allege that on Feb. 2, 2023, Capers impersonated an Outsourced Sales Leader employee and gained access to the store master keys.
Capers was observed via Walmart’s security camera footage using the keys to access a locked storage container where he then selected over 60 iPhones valued at $51,982 before exiting, passing all final points of sale without rendering payment, according to police.
Evidence was secured and thoroughly processed.
On April 2, a Wayne County Grand Jury Indictment issued a Superior Court Warrant of Arrest.
Capers was taken into custody without incident in the early hours of Feb. 14, 2026, and turned over to the Macedon Police Department.
Capers was charged with grand larceny in the second degree, a class C felony; conspiracy in the fourth degree, a class E felony; and criminal impersonation in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Wayne County Court and released.
