Man arrested in stabbing in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, NY — A Schenectady man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left a victim in stable condition.

Officers from the Schenectady Police Department responded to the area of Moyston Street and Hilderbrandt Avenue at approximately 6 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2026, for a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim in his 30s suffering from stab wounds to the abdominal area.

Officers immediately rendered medical aid until assisted by arriving personnel from the Schenectady Fire Department and Mohawk Ambulance Service.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Officers conducted a search of the surrounding area for the suspect, who was located later that evening at 23½ Moyston Street, where he was taken into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Hector A. Perez, 42, of Schenectady.

He has been charged with assault in the first degree, a class B felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.
